Black Church News: COGIC May Bring Women's Convention Back to Memphis


The fact that COGIC Women's Convention may return to Memphis does not surprise us.  However, it won't be the annual convocation that may return there, according to bizjournals.com.  Historically, Memphis was always the place to go for most of COGIC national conventions. Wouldn't it be a good idea for all of the national conventions remain where the original headquarters of COGIC is located in the first place? 

According to bizjournals.com, COGIC is in negotiations with the city to bring its women's convention and Auxiliaries in Ministry convention to Memphis in 2014 and 2015, respectively. If a deal is reached, each event could bring 10,000 to 15,000 people to the city, said John Oros, vice president and COO of the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau.   

Whatever the outcome is, we know many of the COGIC women will be eager to attend the conference.
