First AME’s Former Pastor Says He’s Troubled By Church Upheaval

Now, the former pastor of First AME Church in LA, Rev. Cecil Murray is speaking about the troubles that allegedly started by Rev. John J. Hunter.  He's very upset to see his church enduring such hardships and we can understand why, since he was the pastor for many years.

According to LA Times, a $13.5-million reserve was depleted and debts totaled more than $500,000. And some of the nine rental properties acquired as part of Murray's efforts to serve thousands of low-income residents now sit in disrepair, some infested with termites and mold.

This is very sad that after Rev. Cecil Murray's retirement, First AME Church has not been the same. Too bad, he didn't have a close friend or a child who knew how he operated to become pastor. Now, we can sort of understand why children take over their parents churches, most of the time.
