This case of Pastor Robert Williams being ousted by a few church members at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chicago sort of reminds us of the case in Bakersfield, Ca. For so many years, we question why there has been some churches that refuse certain pastors, after he is accepted by the majority of his congregation. It's a dangerous thing to fire a man of God, especially if you know God has called him to pastor the church. Such disputes should not be tolerated in God's house.
According to the ChicagoTribune.com, the increasingly acrimonious dispute pits a relatively new pastor against some longtime congregants. Besides the lawsuit, a threatening, anonymous letter Williams reported receiving led to a police investigation late last year. An order of protection tried to bar one member from attending church. And a February meeting ended with a call to police. In the meantime, we will keep Pastor Robert Williams and the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Chicago in our prayers.
